Mountains, nature and culture
Trentino Alto Adige is in Northern Italy on border with both Austria and Switzerland, the ideal destination for those who love mountains and nature. It owes its postcard-like landscape to the Alps and its many rivers, lakes and green valleys. As a border region, its rich cultural heritage shows many signs of Germanic influence, which are especially noticeable in the language. Pleasant in summer and snowy in winter, the weather in Trentino Alto Adige is perfect for outdoor activities, therefore, camping sites and holiday villages are the ideal base to set off and explore the region.
Trentino Alto Adige’s lakes
Summer is the best time of the year to visit Trentino Alto Adige’s lakes, as it is possible to swim in most of them, they are a great place to relax or practice a number of sports such as windsurfing, sailing and fishing. With the exception of Lake Garda, the other lakes are medium-size or small but all enchanting, surrounded by green valleys with mountain landscapes in the background. Among the many lakes of the region, the most famous and interesting include Lake Caldonazzo, Lake Levico and Lake Ledro, around which visitors will find a choice of camping sites and holiday villages offering all comforts.
Skiing and walks in the snow
During the winter, Trentino Alto Adige is one of the most popular tourist destinations among skiing and snow excursion enthusiasts, as the region has some of the most renowned mountains and skiing facilities in Europe. Those who are not keen on alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and excursions with snowshoes, can enjoy discovering the old towns and churches in the region, or relax at the camping sites and holiday villages that offer charming wood chalets and bungalows or services such as SPAS and wellness centres on their premises. Additionally, at the end of the year, Trentino Alto Adige turns into a fairytale land for the whole family to enjoy, thanks to the Christmas markets held in many of its towns and cities; the most famous are in Merano, Bolzano, Trento and Levico, but every market has its unique atmosphere and charm.
