The largest and the most famous is Tenerife, with fascinating cities such as Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the latter a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in addition to the Teide National Park, which encompasses the third largest volcano in the world. Equally fascinating and a true holiday paradise, thanks to the many sandy beaches for tourists, is the island of Fuerteventura. Completing the list of the seven largest Canary Islands are Gran Canaria, with its great sandy beaches and dunes, Lanzarote with its volcanic landscapes, La Palma and La Gomera, with their natural wilderness, and El Hierro, with its natural pools of crystalline water.
