The Castile and León is an autonomous region in north-west Spain, bordering the north of Portugal. Also known as the region of Bierzo, the famous Spanish wine of the Sil river valley, Castile and León offers many places to visit, thanks to the beauty of its landscapes and its cities rich in art and history. Art and nature make for a unique and rewarding experience, perfect for a holiday at a campsite or holiday resort in the area. The main cities of Castile and León are the capital Valladolid, Salamanca, Burgos and Segovia.
Camping in Salamanca, ‘Land of Wisdom’
To enjoy a dream holiday in Castile and León, we recommend choosing a campsite near the beautiful and historic city of Salamanca, just 200 km from the Spanish capital Madrid. Immersed in nature, yet with all the comfort and services you need, it is easy to reach the historic city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Do not miss the sunset over Salamanca, when the sun reflects off the Villamayor stone with a characteristic golden colour. A university city among the oldest in Europe, Salamanca is also ideal for those who want to learn Spanish, because it is one of the milestones on the Route of the Castilian Language. Nearby, you will also find the Vía de la Plata, or ancient Roman Silver Road, with tourist towns to visit such as Guijuelo and Béjar.
Camping in Burgos
Just as Salamanca, the city of Burgos is well suited to camping holidays and camper touring. It is a tourist destination of great charm, with monuments such as Burgos Cathedral and the Carthusian monastery of Miraflores, both of Gothic architecture. The Gothic atmosphere and the medieval walls of the city offer a charm that characterizes the whole city of Burgos, one of the milestones of the Route of Santiago de Compostela, along the French Way. As for the cultural events, particularly fascinating are the Saint Peter and Saint Paul festivities in late June.
